Prologue

Welcome to Prologue, our group for 11-13 year olds who love reading and being creative. We meet once a month for a dynamic and exciting workshop.

Every month we take it in turns to choose a book from the HotReads list we've drawn up. You receive a list of creative writing and art/craft projects inspired by the book. Choose whatever you like - for example, writing a newspaper article or speech, making a model or boardgame! Bring your projects along next time we meet to show everybody. Give me a copy and you will receive an email from me containing personal feedback on your work and a mini-tutorial tailored to your needs.

As the group gets older we start to analyse the book - themes, characters, author techniques. The children learn how to make spider diagrams, how to hunt for quotes, how to analyse a piece of text - core skills that they need as they get older. But we never lose sight of the fact that reading is fun!

Oh, and by the way, we take no responsibility whatsoever for children who stay up late because they can't put down a Prologue book :)
